Privacy policy
This site has no forms, accounts or logins, and it does not collect your name, email address or health information. This page explains what it does collect, in full.
Who we are
Mens Health Desk (mens-health-desk.com and online.mens-health-desk.com) is published by The Mens Desk, an independent editorial publisher based in the United States. This policy covers this site only.
What this site collects
Server and security logs
Our pages are served through a hosting platform and a content delivery network. They record your IP address, your browser's user agent, the page you requested and the time, for security and operation. Approximate location (country, region and city) is derived from your IP address to serve the page. We keep these logs for a short period, normally no longer than 30 days.
Cookies and browser storage
The page builder we use sets a small number of first-party cookies so that we can count visits and see which version of a page a visitor saw. They include a random visitor identifier that is kept for up to one year, a page and variant identifier, and a record of the approximate location derived from your IP address. None of them contains your name or any health information.
When you arrive from an advertisement, the link may carry campaign parameters, such as a click identifier, a campaign ID or the search term that led to the ad. The page stores those parameters in your browser's session storage for the current tab and appends them to the outbound links on the page, so the provider can attribute your visit to us. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab.
Advertising and measurement
We bring readers to this site with online advertising, including Google Ads and native advertising networks. Those platforms may set their own cookies or use click identifiers to measure whether an ad led to a visit or a sign-up, under their own privacy policies. We may also use a conversion or analytics tag from those platforms on this site. You can manage the ads you see at adssettings.google.com and in your browser settings.
Fonts
Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives the request for the font file and the associated IP address.
What we receive from partners
When you click through to a provider and sign up or buy, we and the affiliate network may receive a click identifier, the campaign identifier, the fact that a conversion happened and the commission amount. We do not receive your name, contact details, payment details or any health information from any provider.
How we use information
- to serve the site and keep it secure
- to run, measure and pay for our advertising
- to be paid by, and to pay, affiliate partners
- to prevent fraud and to comply with the law
Sharing
We share information with the hosting, delivery, advertising and affiliate partners described above; with service providers that help us operate; with authorities when the law requires it; and with a buyer or successor if the business is transferred. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time, and you can block cookies for this site. You can ask us to access, correct or delete information we hold about you, or to stop using it, by emailing editor@mens-health-desk.com. Say which page or advertisement your request concerns.
California residents. Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect and use, to delete it, and to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell personal information. To the extent that advertising measurement counts as sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, you can opt out by emailing the address above or by using the browser controls described above.
EU and UK residents. Under the GDPR you have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability. Our legal bases are legitimate interests (operating and securing the site, measuring our advertising) and consent where the law requires it. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Links to other sites
When you click through to a provider you leave this site, and that provider's own privacy policy and terms apply. Read them before you share health information.
